What is an H-bridge?
An h-bridge is a way of reversing the current flow through a load.
Four switches used.
- S1 and S4 closed -- power flows through load left-to-right
- S2 and S3 closed -- power flows through load right-to-left
- S1 and S3, or S2 and S4 closed -- short circuit!
First simplification/optimization: use SPDT switches on each side.
Two switches used.
This speed controller: DPDT relay, plus one SPST switch on the
ground leg. Two switches used.
